5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE SOME TIME OFF



  1. It clears and refreshes your mind: Taking time off from your daily grind and routine helps you to gain perspectives that you can’t see when you are deep in the trenches. 
  2. You can’t be good to anyone unless you’re good to yourself: Ask yourself, “What have you done for me lately?” If nothing comes to mind quickly it could mean it has been a while since you focused on yourself. You cannot be a good person to other people if you don’t value yourself. 
  3.  You will be more creative: Sitting day-in day-out in your office or home trying to move things along will at some point cause your ideas to dry up. Taking some time off from your daily routine will give you the space to explore new environments and ideas that your brain needs to be creative. 
  4. Being a control freak isn’t helpful: You have achieved what you have mainly because of your ability to organize, drive processes and move people toward the desired goal. You know how to control situations and make things happen. But there is only so much we are able to control in life. It is important to train yourself to let go before you start getting in our own way. Making time off for yourself is a great way to step back and relinquish control. 
  5. It helps you to keep in touch with what is truly important: When we define ourselves by what we do, we can easily lose sight of who we are, leaving us devastated when the unexpected happens. Taking time off for yourself allows you to realize that you’re more than your professional self. You owe it to yourself to honour those parts of your life that are truly important to you. And you never know where or when you might meet someone in your travels who can help you in your career or business.
