Do you consider this a big question for you?

It’s a difficult subject to write about.

How do you write about loss, especially, losing a loved?

I’m not sure where to start. Or how to go about it.

We dedicated our poem this week to H. We have rested her now. But the void she has left is still too wide and too loud. It’ll take some time before we are used to her absence.

There is something that was said at the funeral that caught my attention.

If you are familiar with Sadhguru then you know there is a word he uses repeatedly to describe the goal and purpose of human experience.

It’s a beautiful word with a musical tone to it. There is a way it rolls on the tongue as you pronounce it. It’s a word I find fascinating, especially in the context of this loss.

The word is ‘exuberance'.

I looked it up on Google and discovered that it is a play of ‘ex’ meaning ‘out’ and ‘uber’ meaning ‘udder’.

Apparently, the word was initially used to describe a cow or a goat that was making so much milk that it naturally dripped from the udder.

I like that. A lot more than you can imagine.

H was described as an exuberant person – a person who evinced the happiness of being alive.

This is a powerful way to describe a person and I think it’s something worth reflecting upon.

We know this thing is short - even though we try our best to brush off the thought. Most of us fear the ending and wouldn’t want to contemplate it much.

Apart from the youth and lovers of extreme sports who seem to have a natural inclination for exuberance, isn’t it ironical that the only other category of people that show a full-blown zest for life are those with the knowledge of its impending end?

How can this be?

What impels them to want to experience it with so much vigour?

How can we harness this irrepressible energy and liveliness in ourselves?

How can we learn to make so much milk that it just drips out naturally?

How can we make this brief experience magical, miraculous, full of wonder, joyfulness and excitement?

Is what you are doing today putting you on the path to exuberance?

That’s the big one, isn’t?
