Are you happy? The answer may be simpler than you probably think.

Do you have a consciously planned leisure time in your life?
How do you spend that time?

The World Happiness Report 2019 raises a number of alarms.

We have picked just three.

One, the report concludes that there is a fundamental shift
In the way we are spending our leisure time.
Apparently, we have displaced most of our face-to-face interactions and sleep
In favour of our gadgets.
The report has found a direct link between the enormous amount of time
We are spending with our electronic devices
And the reduction of our overall well-being.

Two, globally, negative emotions are rising rapidly.

Three, there doesn’t seem to be any correlation between income and well-being.

Last Sunday we highlighted this very paradox
And wondered what could be the missing link.

We suspect - highly suspect - that the answer lies somewhere
In the intangible experiences that accrue
From our relationships and how we spend our leisure time.

The key words here are:
Intangible – cannot be bought or possessed.
Experiences – a positive sensory feeling or emotion.
Relationships – deep ties of love and caring.
Leisure – time that is consciously set aside for hobbies, aesthetics and rest.

So, are you happy?
The answer may be cheaper,
Simpler,
And more accessible, than you probably think...
Just take an audit of your key relationships
And how you use your leisure time.

It's the intangibles that count!
And, surprise, surprise...
They don't cost you as much as their tangible cousins!
