Life is a pretty fleeting thing. Is there anything we can hold on to?

A family friend went to bed on Saturday night,
Like we all did,
And didn’t wake up,
Like most of us did.

On such moments
It's impossible to hide, or evade the truth:
That life is a pretty fleeting thing!

One second, you are vivacious and full of energy,
And dreams, and plans.
The next second, they all evaporate into thin air,
Just like that!

How do you reconcile with that?
What's there to hold on to?

That’s why we believe so strongly
In cultivating interesting experiences;
Coz’ that’s what we’ll all miss dearly:
How her smile beamed bright on us,
The special moments we shared,
The events we celebrated together,
How we comforted and encouraged each other,
Those late evening chats,
And how she made us feel when around her.

It's the memories that count.
It's the memories that stick.
It's the memories that we value.
The rest is bad math. It doesn't add up.
And it won't ever, add up.

Goodbye, friend.
You loved us well.
Thank you for the memories you've left us.
We loved you much…but the Tent-Maker loved you more.
