Guest poem by Mwenda Riungu*: Ode to Ritam Getaways
I really miss you, midway
Between a natural
Deep-water harbour
And a rainforest
Teeming with sable antelopes,
Sits this gem in Kwale
An elegant getaway,
A hideaway, oh Ritam
You're beyond description
I got lost, enveloped
By your simple rustic
Spaces, so cool
Surrounded by
Swaying palms, as
Multi-hued flowers
Adorn the paved paths
Fish ponds here, there
Tilapia and catfish splash
As I snooze in the after
Noon heat, cooled by swirling
Fans, then a dip in the pool
Cold drink sweats on the
Side table, the wait staff
Just a beckon away
East or north, the clean
Tranquil and immaculate
Cottages, well-appointed
Wide open spaces.
We self catered
Daily, how nice!
I chillaxed here, and
Time stood still.
The limit is you
And your imagination.

At Ritam Getaways?
*It's rare to have a guest write a poem about a hotel. This is the second time it is happening to us. The very first poem about us was written and posted on our Facebook Page by Dr. Mbaka.
As always, we were pleasantly surprised to receive this poem. We are delighted and humbled at the same time.
Thank you so much, Mwenda, for appreciating what we do. We are glad that you got a taste of what 'exciting spaces' is all about. And we are thankful for taking time to write about it, and share it with the world.
