Words that caught me: C is for Contribution
The
‘pursuit of success’…
Is
mostly about taking -
Grabbing
the most or the largest share,
Often from someone else.
Is
egocentric –
Winning
is for Me, Myself and I.
Is a nebulous,
hazy thing –
Success,
by definition, is a different thing for each of us,
And
its dimensions keep on shifting, with every tomorrow.
Is surreal
-
It’s
difficult to know when we have it in our grip,
Or
when enough is enough,
And
so... the chase never ends.
It’s rather
stressing –
We
see success in relative terms,
Making
it difficult for us to sleep,
Because
there is always someone ahead of us,
Or
chasing to beat us to the trophy.
There
is some pretty unhealthy stuff going on here!
The ‘pursuit
of contribution’,
Is
about others –
Contributing
the best of ourselves to this creation
And to
humanity.
Is
about generosity –
Making
and sharing our art and our talents
In
the best way we can.
Is
about being humble –
The understanding
that everything we are and have is borrowed –
Our
bodies, things, opportunities...this gorgeous life.
Everything
shall remain right here!
Is
about legacy –
We
can see the real impact of our actions.
The
truth of our impact cannot be hidden, denied or evaded.
Is joyful
–
Because
it comes from the heart
And aligns well with our talents, values and purpose.
There
is some pretty healthy stuff going on here!
History
is replete with stories of kingdoms, conquests,
Gold
and silver,
But
all these have come and gone.
Progress
has only been through
The
generous contributions of those who saw something beyond.
Ultimately,
it’s a choice…
