Words that caught us: What would you like your kids to know? (Part 6)
Dear
child…
Strive
to develop a deep relationship
With
yourself.
No
one will teach you this,
And
no one will do this for you,
Or,
remind you,
Or,
check on you,
Or,
hold you accountable for it.
You
do this yourself,
And
for yourself.
Practice
self-care and gratitude.
Make
it a daily practice,
To
reflect on your day, give gratitude,
And
rest;
Otherwise,
you’ll find yourself
In
constant motion, fatigued and unhappy.
Self-care
is self-investment.
Tend
to yourself and your key relationships.
Always
remember… life isn't happening to you;
Rather,
it is happening within you.
So,
please, don't go to war, with yourself.
The
world will tell you…
That
there is no time for self-care;
That
it’s selfish and wasteful self-indulgence,
To
practice self-love;
That
you can do and be everything under the sun;
But please,
be careful to what and who you listen to,
Because
life will generously remind you otherwise.
“Self-care
is a deliberate choice to gift yourself
With
people, places, things, events, and opportunities
That
recharge your personal battery
And
promote whole health — body, mind, and spirit.”*
Please
understand and appreciate that you need it,
Especially
so, when there is no time.
Learn
to say ‘No’, to thieves of your ‘me-time’.
Take
time to refuel and recharge,
Take
time to read something new and interesting,
Take
time to check your compass,
Take
time to inspect your jar,
Take
time to see and count what’s in the till,
Take
time to check-in with your soul,
Take
time to review how you are showing up in the world,
And who
you are showing up for.
We
all need to learn to nurture ourselves,
If we
are to show up in this world, at our best.
Please,
please, don’t go to war, with yourself!

to the body, refreshing to the mind and rejuvenating to the spirit. To achieve
this, we look at nature for inspiration. This has been, and remains, our motto
and theme. This is how we have chosen to show up, in this world!
